About the Ward Three Civic Association
The Ward 3 Civic Association was
started in 2005 by a group of people who wanted to do something to
help improve the city they live in. We realized that small
achievements can make big differences to the lives of residents, and
decided to get together on a regular (and sometimes not so regular) basis
to talk, enjoy some refreshments, and figure out what we can do
to improve the lives of the residents in the ward and the
city, and still have fun. The W3CA is an all volunteer network of
individuals, families, businesses and friends who appreciate, care
about, and love the city of Beverly.
Our activities have
included:
-A Valentine's visit to the Radius Nursing home where we
had a sing-a-long with the residents, served punch and cookies, and
gave Valentine cards to every resident.
-An Earth Day Cleanup in
Gloucester Crossing
-Sponsoring a public forum on Trash and
Recycling when the city was debating whether to institute a trash
fee
-An annual Homecoming Barbecue
-Supporting the Save the
Pool campaign, to keep the swimming pool open at Beverly Golf and
Tennis
-Sponsoring the traffic island on Beckford Street, where
Beckford and Bennett Streets meet
-An annual holiday gift drive on
behalf of a local group that directly helps people in
need.
Educational sessions held during meetings have included a
visit from Operation Lifesaver to help educate residents on train safety,
and a visit from Mark Casey and Bruce Doig of the Parks and Recreation
department to discuss the status of parks and playgrounds in Ward
3.
To join the W3CA you only need to be a resident of Beverly. We
hope you'll join the fun, and become a member today!
